This Privacy Policy describes how the mobile apps published by Syanac ("we", "us", "our apps") handle your information. It applies to all Syanac apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
1. Information We Collect
Our apps do not require an app account. Your learning records, settings and content you create are stored locally on your device. If you choose to export or share content, it is sent to the destination you select. Our French exam practice app also offers optional online grading, described below. Purchase processing, usage measurement and installation identifiers are described below; some of this information is sent when the app starts, practice is completed or a purchase screen opens, even if you do not buy anything.
2. Advertising and Tracking
Our apps contain no advertising. They include no advertising SDK and display no ads of any kind, so no ad-related data is collected from you — no advertising identifier (IDFA or Android Advertising ID), no ad interaction data, and no location data.
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your information with advertising networks or data brokers. Our apps therefore do not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS.
3. Purchases and App Operation
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive your card or bank details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore access and understand purchase activity. RevenueCat processes purchase history and an anonymous app-user identifier on our behalf, governed by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Some apps also send RevenueCat a code identifying the purchase screen you reached. Times Tables additionally sends the access option, the products shown and the product selected. These values help us understand purchase-screen use; each new value replaces the previous one. They do not include learner names, answers, practice history or saved documents, and are not used for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps.
Our French exam practice app, listed as TEF & TCF Canada French Prep or TCF & TEF Canada: Test Prep, also sends RevenueCat limited milestones to understand whether practice and purchasing work. These identify the app version and access rules, whether an installation is new or returning, the first completed useful practice, the first purchase-screen source and time, the first display of store prices, a price-loading failure category and the first purchase attempt. First milestones are retained for the anonymous purchase-provider identity; the latest purchase-screen source is recorded separately. They do not include exercise answers, recordings, your provider key, exam dates or immigration details.
Android apps that include reminder functionality may use Google Firebase installation services, which send an installation identifier for app functionality even when reminders are scheduled locally. This is not the Android Advertising ID. See Firebase's privacy information. These service communications are encrypted in transit.
Apps with Expo's over-the-air update service enabled contact Expo over HTTPS to check for and download app updates. These requests include a random, persistent app-installation identifier, app and update versions, and operating-system information. The service uses these records to deliver updates and measure update use. If an update fails to launch, later requests may also include the failed update identifiers and a short error report to support recovery and troubleshooting. These requests do not upload your diary entries, photos or learning records. See Expo's explanation of end-user privacy.
4. Data Retention
In-app learning data is stored locally. Copies you export or retain in a device backup remain until you remove them from that destination. Purchase and service records are retained by the relevant providers under their policies, including records needed to restore purchases, prevent fraud or meet legal obligations. We do not operate a server containing your learning records.
5. Children's Privacy
Our apps serve different audiences. Times Tables includes learning activities intended for children, with preparation and purchase choices for parents and tutors. In Times Tables, learner names, answers and progress stay on the device unless a user deliberately exports them. The purchase and installation services described above support app operation and purchase reporting; we do not use this information for advertising, cross-app tracking or child-level learning profiles on our servers. Parents or guardians can contact us with privacy questions or requests concerning information held by our purchase provider.

The French exam practice app offers optional online feedback using your own Anthropic or OpenAI account key. It is off by default. If you enable it, choose a provider, enter your key and request grading, the app sends your typed response and the task rubric directly to that provider over an encrypted connection. Your key authenticates the request with your chosen provider and is not sent to Syanac or RevenueCat. The provider can associate the request with your account and retain it under its account settings and policies; it is not necessarily deleted immediately after the response. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy and OpenAI's Privacy Policy. Syanac does not receive these grading requests or operate a grading server. Voice recordings stay on your device and are not uploaded for online grading.
We do not send this information to advertising networks or data brokers. Purchase reporting is handled through the purchase provider described above.
7. Your Choices
Offline learning does not require an app account. Buying or restoring access requires communication with the store and purchase provider. You can manage subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account. For a request concerning purchase-provider records, contact us below; we will help identify the relevant anonymous purchase record and explain any information that must be retained. Delete local learning records and exported copies using the app's controls and the storage destination you selected.
You can use the French exam practice app without online grading, turn it off in Settings or remove your provider key. Turning it off prevents future grading requests; it does not delete requests already received by your provider. Manage those records through that provider's account controls or privacy contact. Local answers and recordings can be edited or deleted with the app's notebook controls.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the apps constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
